OCCRRA created Ohio Healthy Programs in response to the growing concern surrounding childhood obesity at both state and national levels. Ohio Healthy Programs is funded by the Ohio Department of Health and in part by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The project offers early care and education programs the opportunity to earn recognition as an Ohio Healthy Program. Steps toward this designation include: attending Ohio Approved professional development which uses the Healthy Children, Healthy Curriculum, implementing a wellness policy, improving menus and engaging families.
