Teacher Education and Compensation Helps

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® OHIO provides scholarships to teachers and family child care providers to earn degrees and credentials in Early Childhood Education. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Project, in 22 states, is designed to address three of the major issues in the field: education, compensation and turnover. T.E.A.C.H. has four components to the program: scholarship, education, compensation and commitment.

  • Scholarship – Assistance is provided with the cost of tuition, books, and related educational expenses.

  • Education – The T.E.A.C.H. scholar pursues an associate’s degree in ECE or the Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).

  • Compensation – As a reward for completing the scholarship, a raise or bonus is awarded.

  • Commitment – In appreciation, the T.E.A.C.H. scholar agrees to remain in her position for a year.

The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association (OCCRRA) administers the scholarship program for Ohio.

Please note: CDA Scholarships and AAS scholarships for professionals at Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rated programs are available without a waiting list. However, due to high demand and limited funding, there is currently a waiting list for new AAS scholarships for County Certified Type-B professionals and professionals working at programs not yet rated by SUTQ. To be placed on the waiting list please contact us. We will discuss your eligibility with you and determine if it makes sense for you to submit an application to us. We are continuing to look for new funding to support those scholars we have on the waiting list. Adding your name and information to our waiting list helps us to communicate your need to potential funders. Family Professionals currently on scholarship are not in danger of losing their scholarships.
